Signed fine art giclée print
The Pill is a tidal creek that crosses Northam Burrows Country Park. It is a familiar brushstroke of blue (or brown!) across the vibrant green of the landscape, crossed by a stone bridge that carries cars down the road to the beach. The stream takes on the temperament of the sky – when the latter is dark and foreboding, purple-greys and blues become the palette with which the water carves through the land. On sunny days with blue skies and fluffy white clouds, the stream becomes lighter, more playful.
Sometimes the water is transparent, with fish darting beneath the cover of the reflections on its surface. At other times, it is muddied and soupy. I love it in all its myriad colours.
This was one of those lovely brisk days with a gorgeous cloudy sky and patches of sun. The fluffy textures of the clouds, spiky grasses and mirror-like surface of the water made for such a pleasing combination, I was compelled to paint it!
This is a reproduction print of my original oil painting. As an authentic Westward Ho! artist, there’s nothing that pleases me more than creating art featuring Westward Ho! and the places I love so much. I have a selection of Devon art if you’re looking for other prints to pair with it. Westward Ho! Pebbles, Westward Ho! Reflections, ‘The Skern’ ,‘Across to Instow’, ‘Pebble Ridge at Sunset’ , ‘Bucks Mills’, ‘Bucks Mills Artists’ Cabin’, ‘Sand and Sea’, ‘Still Water to Instow’, ‘Sunset at Westward Ho!’ or ‘Sunset Pebbles’ are all local scenes.
Available in A4 and A5.
