Signed fine art giclée print
Tucked away at the end of a windy road through a shady valley lies Bucks Mills, a little haven of tranquility in North Devon. Wander down from the car park, past chocolate-box cottages, a bubbling brook, and the tiny National Trust Artist Cabin to reach the sea and the rugged, pebble beach.
Tumbling down from the village at the top of the cliffs is a thin sliver of a waterfall, leaving the pebbles below polished and shiny. Alongside the beach are the remains of two lime kilns, and some interesting rusty winches, boats and sheds which I always feel drawn to sketch!
This print is taken from my gouache painting depicting the artists’ cabin and the slope down to the beach and sea beyond. The artists’ cabin was once used by artists Judith Ackland and Mary Stella Edwards, and is now under the care of the National Trust, offering a space for residencies for other artists. I painted this piece in the lead up to my own residency at the cabin in July 2022. The original is also for sale.
Bucks Mills holds special memories for many people, and my print is a lovely gift for someone who loves the village and beach. If you’re looking to fill a blank wall in your own home, why not pick a few of my North Devon prints and display as a pair or a small collection? ‘Pebble Ridge at Sunset’ is also available in A4 and A5, or choose from some of my smaller prints such as ‘Sand and Sea’, ‘Still Water to Instow’, ‘Sunset at Westward Ho!’ or ‘Sunset Pebbles’.
Available in A4 and A5.
