Signed fine art giclée print
One morning, I took myself down to the Skern Mudflats straight after the school run. I was fuelled by coffee (and a snack or two) and I painted for a couple of hours in the sunshine. I chatted to a few people as they walked past, and even a school group came by, interested in what I was doing.
Back in my studio I finished up the painting, and now when I look at it I’m reminded of that lovely day, painting away without a care in the world.
The Skern Mudflats are a unique formation of grass-topped mud lumps (not the technical term I’m sure), which are arranged in a strangely pleasing, almost tessellating way. The tide floods the channels in between, and at high tide, they aren’t visible at all. Sheep have been known to find themselves marooned on these little ‘islands’, but fortunately they can swim back to shore.
It’s a fun place to play for children – I once saw a family doing an Easter egg hunt across the mudflats! And luckily for me, it’s a very picturesque scene to paint.
If you’re interested, you can see the process of the painting here on Instagram.
This is an A4 print.
