Round and plump like rocky pillows, the pebbles at Westward Ho! are an iconic sight. Piled up on the ridge (which is a natural phenomenon – did you know?) and resting in transparent pools on the sand, they permeate the vast expanse of beach that is a playground for everyone from families to horse riders.

A pebbly pool has long been on my list of ‘things to paint’, and for this piece I wanted to choose a soft palette that reflects the subtle colours in the rocks and sand. As I create art based on Westward Ho!, I remember the many happy times I have spent here. To have this right on my doorstep is a real treat, both as a human being and an artist! I am forever drawing inspiration from the local landscape and I hope that my paintings inspire wonderful memories in those who see them.

This is a reproduction print of my original gouache painting. As an authentic Westward Ho! artist, there’s nothing that pleases me more than creating art featuring Westward Ho! and the places I love so much.
