Take a walk on Westward Ho! Beach and you’ll see the familiar sight of the groynes spaced at intervals along the sand. Sea-beaten, weather-worn and dressed in zingy green seaweed, they stand stalwart through time. They’ve endured storms, seen generations of children playing in the pools at their feet and silently witnessed dog walkers, horse riders, surfers and swimmers enjoy the beach for decades.

To me, they enhance the natural landscape, and through time, become part of it. The circular pools that appear around them with each tide only add to their beauty – reflecting the huge sky and the groynes themselves. Add in their elegant shadows that stretch across the sand, and you’ve got a recipe for a lovely painting!

This is a reproduction print of my original oil painting. As an authentic Westward Ho! artist, there’s nothing that pleases me more than creating art featuring Westward Ho! and the places I love so much.
